Free English Classes

Classes take place every Monday and Tuesday in September, October, November, February, March May and June

  • Every Monday at 5:30-6:45pm during September, October & November, February (2025) March (2025) May (2025) and June (2025)
  • Every Tuesday at 1:30-2:45pm during   September, October & November, February (2025) March (2025) May (2025) and June (2025)
  • As an extension we provide readings of John's gospel on Tuesdays (in the above months) at 3pm

Information for students:

Free English Classes at Carrubbers are for people who want to improve their English.

It mainly follows a program by All Souls Church, Langham Place.

Teachers are volunteers, so may not have teacher training qualifications, but will help you follow established materials.

The lessons are intended for beginner (CEF levels A1 & A2) and intermediate (CEF level B1) level learners; and only aim to provide additional English language support - they are not meant to be a complete course of English teaching or to replace a course in a language school.

Basic-level groups focus mainly on everyday spoken language. Intermediate groups use mostly expository texts which describe or explain things. We also include narrative texts from time to time. In addition we have separate groups for more advanced students (CEF level B2 and above), using more or less the same material as the intermediate students but in a more challenging way.

You will get the most out of the lessons if you come regularly, take home the worksheet each week and revise what you have learnt.

Classes at Carrubbers take place on Mondays 5:30-6:45pm and Tuesdays 1:30-2:45pm in the months of February, March, May, June, September, October and November.
